Character Coach Spotlight: Vad Lee
Character Coaching, provided by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes ministry, is impacting sports communities all throughout the Valley. James Madison Football has been in good hands with great men of character coaching the heart and soul of our student-athletes for the past five years. As a former student-athlete myself, I have been directly impacted by character coaches and I’ve witness the importance of having a character coach present. The FCA method of a good Character Coach is to equip, engage and empower student athletes beyond the playing field in hopes to prepare them for life beyond ball and eternity beyond life.
It is a great honor and blessing to serve the 2019 JMU Football Dukes as the Character Coach. It has been such a rewarding experience to see the fruit of all the behind the scenes one-on-one meetings, hospital visits, attended practices, meals at the Dining Hall, and many cool experiences. I serve not only because I am called by God but I serve because of the great influential character coaches that have come before me. This season has been full of opportunity and I am extremely confident that God is moving through the hearts of our players. One thing I love about the athletes on this team is the desire and willingness to pray before competitions! During these times, I am always thankful that God could use a game to help draw men to his presence. My hope and prayer is that these men would be ambassadors for Christ on campus during their day-to-day activity.
